Job Summary
The Occupational Health Nurse Advisor will play a crucial role in providing expert advice and support on occupational health matters. This position involves assessing employee health, managing workplace risks, and promoting a culture of health and safety within organizations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with both employees and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments for employees, including pre-employment screenings, fitness-for-work evaluations, and periodic health reviews.
- Develop and implement occupational health policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practices.
- Provide expert advice on managing workplace hazards, including ergonomic assessments, exposure to hazardous substances, and mental health support.
- Collaborate with HR departments to manage employee absence due to illness or injury effectively.
- Deliver training sessions on health-related topics such as stress management, manual handling, and workplace wellness initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of employee health data while ensuring confidentiality in compliance with GDPR regulations.
- Participate in audits and inspections related to occupational health standards within client organizations.
- Stay updated on current trends in occupational health nursing through continuous professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid NMC registration.
- Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health Nursing (e.g., Diploma or Degree).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as an Occupational Health Nurse or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of UK occupational health legislation and guidelines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organization.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records systems.
Skills Required
- Strong analytical skills for assessing complex situations related to employee health.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite and occupational health software applications.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
